How GPA Conversion Works
There is no single universal conversion formula. Different universities and countries use different equivalency tables. However, common conversion benchmarks used by Australian institutions are as follows: 85-100% in India is generally considered equivalent to a High Distinction (HD) in Australia, or 3.7-4.0 on the US 4.0 scale 75-84% is broadly equivalent to a Distinction (D), or approximately 3.3-3.6 on the 4.0 scale 65-74% maps to Credit (C) level, or around 2.7-3.2 on the 4.0 scale 50-64% is a Pass (P), or 2.0-2.6 on the 4.0 scale
Why You Need an Accurate GPA Estimate
Many competitive master's programs have minimum GPA requirements of 3.0 or higher on the 4.0 scale. Applying without understanding your converted GPA can result in wasted application fees and time. Use this calculator as a starting point, and confirm your converted GPA with your counsellor before submitting applications.
Beyond the Calculator
